Lake Michigan in the morning
Cold air is blowing at 35 kph from the north, which is the direction I’m heading, so it’s slow slogging. And it was only 9 C in the morning. But what a glorious day. The pictures tell the story.

Looking back at County Road U. (They use letters for their roads here.)

Cherry trees
This area, Door County, is the out of the way vacation spot for folks looking to wind down and be artsy. Same vibe as the Gulf Islands and the east shores of Vancouver Island.

Arriving in Sturgeon Bay

They raise the bridges here.

A boat for Deep River Bill

Sturgeon Bay and Green Bay from lookout tower
Just a short ride of 30 miles today, because I’m tired and due for a rest. I’ll stay two nights in Potawatomi Park, and explore the peninsula north of here with an unloaded bike. The guidebook includes an in-and-out route of about 80 miles from here, but a local cyclist assures me I’ll get the experience without doing it all. The wind wins.

Supper at Waterfront Mary’s
It’s still cold and windy, so I’m at Waterfront Mary’s, typing in the warm. Right next to the campground. Convenient like I like it.
