I’m at the Palace Campground in Galena, with pool, $25 per night.
This time of year is low season and all campgrounds have had lots of open space, quiet and privacy. State Parks are all nice, $10 – $20, some areas are free. Private campgrounds cater to trailers and such, and shoehorn tents wherever there is grass, but Palace has tent areas.
This photo is view to the east,
and to the west with my tent.
Best amenity is Walmart with grocery and hot food deli, directly down the hill from me.
This morning it was 8 Celsius, and I wore a coat for the first time. With sun, the afternoon got to 25 C. First camp night of the trip with tent dry, sleeping bag dry, and bike bags dry. Clothes too. Prior to this, all was covered in dew, even if the temperature was around 20 and higher, and sleeping bag and clothes were always damp or wet in morning.
Makes for great sleeping.
