The closer I get to Canada, the colder it gets—overcast and 12 Celsius tonight in Crosby MN. I had to put on my merino wool T-shirt and am snug in my sleeping bag to keep warm.
The day was warm, with about 30 miles of highway riding, some on the side road, and some on the 4 lane divided. Ran into a group of riders carrying a torch around Minnesota for the Special Olympics in Minneapolis, with police escort and motorhome support.
I have a friend in Penticton who sells motorhomes and owns one himself, but after six weeks on the road, I have yet to see him bring me so much as a Gatorade.
Meanwhile I met John and Bob in the campground, on a one week bike vacation, and we had supper together. Thanks for the meal and the conversation guys. They spent the last three days on the Paul Bunyan trail from Bermidji to Brainerd—100 miles of paved rail trail.
I had 6 miles of paved trail through an area of old iron mines, and then found a serpent at the campground on the lake in Crosby.
I’m in lake country now. Heard a loon cry out as it flew overhead.
