We headed out at 7:37 a.m. today in order to miss the heat. Luckily, the day started at 65 degrees, with blue skies, and we were nice and cool. On the other hand we had a headwind of 14 mph, which slowed us to 8 mph.
Brian decided that he needed to get some extra sleep and did not want to camp, so he has gone directly onto Natchez via a four lane highway 61, with ample traffic.
We plan on meeting up again in Natchez, after I do the quiet back roads on the official trailer.
When I hit highway 420, where the bike is leaning against the sign in the picture, I got one full hour of no traffic. Beautiful road, quiet with lots of old live oaks and farms. Pics of same are on camera and I can’t send those. Use phone sparingly to conserve power.
I was surprised to get here so quickly, due to it only being 47 miles. However, upon checking, my time was 5:19 hours, which compares to 5:30 and 6:03 on the first two days. So my conclusion is that I must be getting used to this. It is now plenty hot in the Sun, so getting started early was a great idea. Will do the same tomorrow.
